I have never been treated so poorly by a “medical person” in my life! The woman at the desk was rude and spoke to me in a condescending manner; cutting me off mid sentence when I was asked if she needed my insurance card. An hour later, when I questioned her about a patient who had come in an hour after me, being called in before me. She told me to sit down and I would be called back. I continued to question her about patients being called out of turn and she began to argue with me. It was pointless to stand there and argue with her so, I asked her her name. She reluctlently responded, Shelly. I then went back to my seat. When her co-worker arrived at the front desk, she stood up and loudly said, “That one’s complaining” while pointing at me. This happened in front of about 35 other patients. The other patients seemed as disgusted as I was. Several of them frowned and shrugged. As if to say, what was the point of that? Finally after waiting 1 hour and 50 minutes, I was called back to have blood drawn by the phlepotomist. I use the word loosly as it was obvious this guy had very little experience. He poked me three times before getting it right. When he started his work, the two rude employess from the front desk, entered the room where I was having blood drawn and they sat down in the chairs facing me. Watching me as the stumble bum continued to stick me unsuccessfully. This kind of intimidation is unaccaptable! I’m still not sure how I’m going to handle this and I’m open to any suggestion.
Thanks for letting me get this off my chest!

On March 17, 2008 i was sent to give a hair and urin sample for my partime job. The results of the test came back on March 25, 2008 with a negative urine a postive hair sample for the use of cocaine , well quite naturally this must have been a mistake so i requested another test from my employer which was a partime position the second test came back positive also for the hair sample ,the cutoff levels were 500 , the level of usage was 3441 for the first test the second test usage level was 1064 at that point i was terminated from my partime position . Now this is where it gets nasty my fulltime position as a law enforment agent was terminated also because of these negative test result and test that were taken at a different lab came back negative in the hair sample and another test was taken and the result were negative also.i have not been able to find someone who can help me with this case i am in South Carolina please send someone who can at least dispute these test results.
I hate Labcorp with a passion. Everytime my doctors wants to run a test I cringe. Between the wait time, the clueless idiots who works there, the inexperienced techs who can’t find the vein saying “Goodness the veined rolled”.
I hate this place. The last 2 times I went I suggested to them a real nice vein and the tech chose to use a vein that was almost not visable and then they dug and digged until the caught it. You should see the bruises.
Todays problem is their refusing to supply me with my reports. They did offer it mail it to me in 2 weeks. This is against NJ Department of Health and Hospital requlations. I spoke with DHH and they suggested me filing a complaint. When I told Don Luu the Director of Hippa regulations he was no help just an arrogant idiot who is too lazy to do his job and follow the NJ Statuates. Then I spoke with Don Hardison COO and he stands behind his MORON. Dave King CEO is out of the office at a conference. I’m sure some exotic resort at the sharholders $$$$$.
What a joke. These people should be heavily regulated and made to follow the rules of each state, not make up the rules as they see fit.
Employees at the Seneca, SC site arrive 10-20 minutes late regularly. Today there were 10 ppl standing outside when gal arrived 10 min late. Heard complaints that this is normal and that complaints have no effect. Every time I arrive at opening time, the office is locked and employees have not arrived. Other than punctuality and concern for patients, they’re okay.
I HATE THIS PLACE!!….I HAD TO GET BLOOD DRAWN FOR CHOLESTEROL SCREENING..THIS IS THE WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN AND I WAS YELLED OUT BY THE SO CALLED EMPLOYEES AND THEY COULDN’T FIND MY VEIN AND DUG AND DUG I HAD TO TELL THE “GIRL”TO STOP!…SHE WAS RUDE..I DID GET HER NAME….AND PLAN ON CONTACTING MY PROVIDER…THIS PLACE SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN!!!!…THEY ALSO OPEN LATE AND I SIGNED THE SHEET FIRST AND SHE TOLD ME I DIDNT AND YELLED AT ME IN FRONT OF THE OTHERS….I FELT TOTALLY DISRESPECTED AND HUMILIATED..AND ALL THIS FOR A BLOOD TEST!!!…IT RUINED MY DAY..AND ALSO, I HAVE A SORE ARM AND A BRUISE..PLEASE ADVISE ME HOW I CAN PURSUE THIS MATTER FURTHER..I KNOW THE COMPANY PROBABLY DOESNT CARE A BIT…WE ARE NOTHING TO THEM…BUT I FEEL LIKE IF ENOUGH OF US CAN GO TO THEM….THERE IS POWER IN NUMBERS!!!!

LabCorp in Northern Virginia is an absolute joke. All facilities are staffed by nothing but a mean, uncourteous and unprofessional staff. I have had to use LabCorp three times this year and each time has been an unpleasant experience.
This morning was the latest round. After arrival, I had gone into the back to get blood drawn and heard a gentleman ask for a new bandage. The woman walking me back snapped at him “Well, who took yo blood!?!? Go find her!”. When he did and asked politely again for a bandage because he was bleeding, she also snapped at him “Well dat’s ’cause you took da bandage off!”. He was not pleased.
When it was my turn, the woman taking my blood did some paperwork, then turned around, stared at me for a short while gave me a strange look and the exact words out of her mouth were “Well are you going to give me your arm or not?”.
My boyfriend works for labcorp in Monmouth County, NJ. Not only has he received many compliments for doing such good work, he has also had several people who will ONLY go to him when they need blood drawn. I understand that there might be long waits and unfriendly staff members, but you can not say that for EVERYONE who works for the company. My boyfriend is educated and does know what he is doing and the best way to do it. Maybe while you are there speak to a manager and nip it in the bud before you leave the office, or tell you DR. to send you someplace else. If is is so bad why continue to go there?
Julie, we are forced to go there because of our insurance companies. My insurance company contracts with LabCorp instead of better labs in order to save money. You boyfriend may be fine and treat people with respect, but this company is poorly managed and has an overall problem with the way its employees treat their customers.
I waited for 40 minutes at one place (450 Sutter, San Francisco) and only one person was admitted. The woman next to me said she had been waiting an hour and 20 minutes.
The receptionist encouraged us to go to the 490 Post facility. Went there. 3 people waiting. No one called in during the 40 minutes I was waiting. I finally left because, well, I have a life to lead.
Ridiculously slow and understaffed. I’m going to beg my doctor and medical group to terminate with LabCorp.
I am a Phlebotomist @ Lab Corp and I work very hard often missing lunch or a break. I think people need to understand that drawing your blood is only a small portion of our job. After your blood is drawn, and your on your way we still have to let the blood sit for at least 15 min, then centerfuge it for another10-15 min. then make sure that all your paperwork is in order, then package it up to be picked up by a courier on time. Also if your doctor did not give us the correct info we need then we have to call his office and get it. Have you ever tried to read a doctors handwriting? Most of the time we can but not always.also if the office did not supply us with a correct code for why these tests are being performed then we need to call for that also.If your Dr did his job right the first time this would not be un nessasary and you would be served alot faster.I do not condone anyone being rude to anyone but remember that goes both ways.I am just trying to do my job and go home to my family at the end of the day. Please be kind in return and do not wait till the last minute before we close to come in because as you can see after you leave we still have alot of work to do with you specimen. Maybe if you do this you will be trated better
I have been having problems dealing with Labcorp for over excessive billing.
Last year Labcorp charged my insurance company $898.00 for blood work done on my husband, $598.00 & $398.00 for blood work done on myself. All of the blood work was done in a doctor’s office.
I have called Labcorp several times & cannot get anything done..Labcorp insists that these charges are correct.
I would like to have this issue resolved somehow because these charges are ridiculous.Do Drs too get kickbacks from Labcorp?
I have contacted my Drs office & they insist that Labcorp handles their own billing,& also contacted my insurance company,Cigna. Cigna also said it was Labcorp.
JUST WANTED TO START BY SAYING THAT I SEARCHED THE LABCORP WEBSITE HIGH AND LOW TO FILE A COMPLAINT. LOW AND BEHOLD, THERE IS NO DEPARTMENT TO HANDLE SUCH INFORMATION. TOO MANY COMPLAINTS TO DEAL WITH? PERHAPS.
This is in response to a very disturbing visit(s) that I experienced at the Nottingham location of Labcorp on 7/3/08 and 7/7/08.
On 7/3, I visited the center with a script for both bloodwork and a urine sample. I was greeted in a less-than-personable manner from the individuals at the front desk. The staff consisted of only African American women. While this may seem irrelevant, it was clear that discrimination played a part in this obnoxious experience. I attempted to make friendly conversation, as one would in any social interaction. This attempt failed miserably.
I was the only individual in the waiting room for approximately 20 minutes. I work in a medical field, so I am well aware of the difficulty of juggling many things at once. Things do not always go according to plans. However, it was very frustrating to witness the pace at which these women were working. It was less than diligent.
I waited in the exam room for another ten minutes. During this time, an African American patient entered the facility, and I was shocked at the manner in which she was greeted- Kindness, compassion, friendliness. It was the complete opposite of how I was treated. I can only conclude that this was because of her ethnicity. Regardless of how these women feel personally, it is inappropriate to make it so blatently obvious in a professional setting. I finished giving my sample. It was a disappointing visit, wan’t enough to push me over the edge.
However, my experience was about to get much worse. On Monday, 7/7, I was instructed to drop off a 24 hour collection of urine. I brought in the tank o pee at approximately 11:45 am. I entered the facility and quietly whispered that I was there to drop off the sample. The woman at the front desk blatantly barked at me that “I still need to sign in and wait.” I didn’t know that I had made such a difficult request.
So I took the sample to a seat, as embarrassing as it was, and attempted to conceal it. I really didn’t want the entire waiting room (which was filled to the brim) to see the container. About 5 minutes later, the young lady at the desk mumbled “You here to drop off a sample?” (No, that wasn’t a typo. She was unfamiliar with proper English, apparently) She didn’t even lift her head from the desk. We all looked at each other with confusion as to who she was speaking to, but I assumed it was me. “Do you need me?” I responded.
“Uh, yeah?” Her words were short and filled with attitude. Her tone said, “Duh, who else do you think I am talking to?” The whole waiting room just kind of looked at each other, stunned from the comment.
I tip-toed around the side of the desk, inconspicuously placing me sample out of view. “Na, uh. You need to bring that over here,” she said, pointing to the front desk. Beside the fact that it is completely unsanitary to place a container of urine on a very public work space, the request was embarrassing. It was enough that I had to parade the urine back and forth from front door to desk to seat to desk, but to have to put it on display was completely humiliating. There was no reason, whatsoever, that I couldn’t put the sample on the side of the desk, where the public couldn’t see it. It was quite clear that she was going to dictate the course of events, and if I stepped out of line, she was going to see to it that I paid the price.
She asked me several legitimate questions about the urine…time of collection, date of collection. Then she proceeded to ask me how many mL I collected. Is that my job to make such calculations? Isn’t that her job? She also asked me if I had marked the container appropriately with that information. I hadn’t. I had to label the container myself, despite the fact that they have a computerized system that prints out labels. At this point, to spare myself any further humiliation, I kindly asked her if there was an area that I could go to that was a bit more discreet. She got nasty again, telling me that she “was gonna put me in a room when she was done.”
I have to say that this experience was mortifying, insulting, and degrading. I know that we are all entitled to a bad day here and there. We are all capable of misdirecting our frustrations on others. However this was a repeated case of disrespect and discrimination. I am not one to play victim, but I am convinced that from the moment I walked in that door, that she had no intention of treating me like a decent human being.
I hope that Labcorp scans its staff thoroughly and trains them more extensively on customer service and respect. For the most part, the individuals that visit Labcorp are those who are struggling with some sort of ailment. Compassion and kindness should be fundamental. Nobody should have to walk out of that facility feeling worse than when they walked in.
Bottom line…a majority (and don’t start listing your loved ones and relatives that don’t fit the bill…that’s why I used the term MAJORITY) of the employees at Labcorp are ignorant, uneducated, I’m-a-victim-of-racism-so-I’m-going-to-treat-you-whities-like-shit-because-I-can, lazy, low-society wrecks. They find it humorous to try to control the situation to the best of their ability. And here’s the thing… there is more than one saying that encompasses what their future holds in store for them. “What goes around comes around”
“Karma’s a bitch”
“You reap what you sow”
Our complaints aren’t going to change the system. But, you know what? God help them. Their actions are going to do nothing but curse them in the long run.
YOUR COMMENT IS SO LAME, I RESPECT THE WAY YOU FELT WITH YOUR EXPERIANCE AND ALL, BUT MAY I ASK WHY ARE YOU WORRIED ABOUT THE AFRICAN WOMAN(EMPLOYEE AT LABCORP) SAYING HELLO TO ANOTHER AFRICAN WOMAN? THAT SHIT SOUNDS SO STUPID YOU SOUND LIKE YOU ARE A LITTLE KID LOOKING FOR ATTENTION! MAYBE SHE KNOWS THAT WOMAN. YOU NEED TO GROW UP AND STOP BEING SO INSULTED AT EVERYTHING. IT SEEMS LIKE YOU THINK THAT THE WORLD IS AGAINST YOU AND EXPECIALY AFRICAN AMERICANS. YOU SEEMS LIKE YOUR A RACIST BITCH!
I went to LabCorp in May, had to wait more than 45 minutes, only 3 people working in the entire place, and each with an attitude. I honestly did not want to have my blood drawn there, but it’s the only lab I can go to with my insurance, so I had no other choice. In July I got a billing notice from LabCorp stating “Your insurance carrier was unable to process this claim” and asking that I fill out my insurance info again and/or send a copy of the card to them. They took all that when I had the bloodwork done. When I called my insurance company, they did not have a record of any claim from LabCorp, much less a rejected or denied claim. So, not only was my experience bad in the first place, they accused my insurance company of holding up the claim when that was not true.
I am an administrator at a medical office. The absolute best way to make them take notice is to COMPLAIN TO YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY. Your insurance company does not want to lose paying members, and will take your complaints about any contracted provider seriously. Your doctor’s office many times has no control over where they can send you for bloodwork. The doctor can notify your insurance company of the lousy service, or lost or incorrect test results, HOWEVER the bottom line is the insurance companies listen much more to their members (paying monthly premiums) than a doctor to whom they must shell out money for other services.
Sad, but it’s all about the money. The insurance company doesn’t want to lose its paying customers because of a contracted provider’s service issues, so they would be more inclined to either cancel the contract with that provider, or make sure there are adequate alternatives.
Jennifer, I agree but the issue here is that LabCorp is the lowest bidder, so to say. Insurance companies like them because they charge less. Sure the service is substandard and going to their center is inconvenient and causes aggravation, but their price is lower than other quality reference labs. I predict that as patients commence malpractice lawsuits as a result of LabCorp’s substandard quality of care, the insurance companies will start dropping them. Either that or the feds will come in and take legal action against LabCorp. In both cases, the insurance companies will run away from them, not just walk away.
I never been treated so bad as i was today at labcorp in bridgeton NJ 08302, I walked in to drop off a stool sample, earlier in the week the woman behind the counter said all i had to do was drop it off. so today i tried to do that. I walk in and stand at the counter noone was around, I hear a female voice in the back working with a patient. at this point im not in the least bit aggravated. I wait ten or so minutes finally the woman comes tot he desk and says sir your being rude by standing there. i said all i want to do is drop off my sample, and thats when the woman flipped out on me. “sir I cant help you im busy you must sit down” I said all i want to do is drop this off, and again “sir sit down i cant help you your casuing a scene and i refuse to help you”
this woman was the nastiest person i have come across in a long time, i ended up throwing my stool sample at her and filing a complaint through my doctors office. she was older around mid 60′s black hair with some gray in it. how else can i file a complaint??
I also work for Labcorp…Regardless where you go patients are always going to bitch. But anyways instead of patients complaning about why its taking so long may be they should tell there Doctors to give the right test codes and better yet half the patients sit in the waiting room and here the techs say insurance card, id, information sheet and your script, but when you call patients they seem not to have the info sheet filled out and no insurance care and well as id and script and the funny part is that they tell the techs to go find there scripts..LMAO…and the best ones are the ones that come in last and want to leave first..
Also when we come in a 7am the and close a 3pm we still don’t get out till 4:00pm or 5:00pm and when we are in our cars trying to pull out patients want to block our cars intill we see them….LABCORP PATIENTS ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS WAIT OTHER WISE WE GET BITCHED AT, WE DON’T EVEN GET OUR BREAKS AND LABCORP COULD GET IN LOTS OF TROUBLE. YOU PATIENTS DONT KNOW WHAT WE GO THROUGH EVERY DAY……..IF YOU HAVE COMPLANTS WRITE TO DAVID KING OR THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT BECAUSE US HERE IN NJ HAD ENOUGH……BUT IN THE OTHER HAND I AGREE WITH THE PATIENTS AS WELL AS HOW LABCORP EMPLOYEES DO NOT GET DAYS OFF WE WORK 6 DAYS A WEEK WITH NO LUNCH….IF YOU WANT TO SEE BUSY OFFICES GO TO THE UNION/MIDDLESEX/ESSEX COUNTY OFFICE…LABCORP WORKS US LIKE CRAZY THATS WHY ALL THE OFFICES ARE SHORT STAFF ALL THE EXPERENCE TECHS LEFT WHILE ALL THESE NEW PEOPLE SHOW UP AND HALF THE TIME THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING….LABCORP IS THE WORST COMAPANY TO WORK FOR.
I have been in pain management for many years and I had to be drug tested to make sure all of my pain medications that I take several times a day were in my system so on 6/10//08 I had blood drawn and a urinalysis, everything showed and it was ok,then on 7/7/08 i had been tested again for the same things and the tests came back none detected now I have a problem ,my doctor said he had a couple choices I can not give you your meds, I can release you from my care,Then I got upset and told him you can not refuse to not give narcotics that I have taken everyday for years,he saw how upset I was he called my wife and asked her if I take my medication, and she told him absoloutly, the I think he beleived that I was truthful and gave me my meds and then retested me again today 8/4/08 I am waiting to see the results on this one.they definetly made an error some where I take several pain killers 3-4 times a day every day for years and it shows none detected I am very upset I want to know what can be done they are 100 percent wrong and this could cause me severe problems I still do not know what the doctor will do and this makes me look bad and it is on my permanent medical record,is there some legal action that I can take on labcrap for incompitience I AM PI–ED
I work for Labcorp. Like anywhere else, you got good people and you got bad people.
I’d like to offer replies to some of the points raised in this forum and some advice that may be helpful.
Many people here are compaining about the wait being 45 minutes. This is not a legitimate complaint until the wait time exceeds an hour. Labcorp will be happy to hire more people to staff the collections sites–but that cost will be passed on to you in the form of your lab bill. In order to keep costs low, patients may be asked to wait up to an hour. If you are waiting more than an hour, then you have a legitimate complaint.
No Labcorp employee should ever be rude to you in any way. If somebody is rude with you-ask to speak with the supervisor. After you have placed your complaint with the supervisor, ask for the supervisor’s boss’ telephone, email, or physical address. Make sure that you follow-through with letting a second person of authority know about innapropriate looks, words, or tones…I cannot tell you how angry it makes me to hear about patients being treated poorly!
I don’t believe that Labcorp has a disproportionate number of idiots working. I’d say statistically that all businesses have an equal ratio of moron employees to good employees. If you do not believe me, call the phone company.
I have a negative view of the drug test performed on hair. Some have touted its superior accuracy but that is not accurate. Hair drug test technology has not shown to be superior to urine testing–just costlier and with more complicated collection criteria. As far as false positives, they occur. I have no data to share with you about how often false positives occur.
Billing issues are frustrating. I know nothing about billing. If you are having billing isssues, ask to speak with a billing supervisor. Remain pleasant even if you are frustrated. It may take a considerable amount of research on the billing supervisor’s part to sort out an error once it has been made. If you are nasty, there is little motivation to help you.
Labcorp is forbidden by law (HIPPA) to discuss or provide patient results with anyone other than the ordering physician. This is in place to protect your confidentiality. Labcorp has no room to negotiate or make exception. This is not Labcorp’s rules. If you need your lab reuslts, call your doctor.
It always amazes me how patients go to the doctors offices and have no problem waiting, and waiting, and waiting. They bring reading material, knitting supplies, and the new trend ipods, but when they come to a laboratory or even x-ray they expect to be “in and out.” This is a medical office no different than a doctors office. We receive phone calls, have patients that are difficult sticks, have children that require more than one phlebotomist to attend to, people that are apprehensive and we have to be patient with, and those that faint, specimens that have to be processed so that your blood can go out in a timely matter, as well as the little things like making sure things are properly labeled and stored, the area is clean, our hands are washed in between(and while i know this will encourage the multitudes to reply “it was filthy” and “she didnt even wash her hands”), and oh yeah since we are human beings we have to micturate and/or defecate every now and then (yes even at work!). Oh yeah and my favorite, “I forgot to ask my doctor, can you please explain all twenty of the tests that he’s ordered to me?” The doctors of nurses leave information off (I actually have received req’s that didnt even have the patients name on it and when it was pointed out to the patient they werent even upset. How do they know that was even theirs?), we have to call the doctors offices and we get the same long holds and voicemails just like the patients. We dont have any special back line to call to get speedy results even though patients think we do (“Can’t YOU just call). Patients write their own personal courtesy copy requests on the “THEIR” lab work and we have to call to confirum the doctor wrote it, because IT IS AGAINST THE LAW to forge or change a legal documents. I know its hard to take because while we can take time off for dr’s appointments we tend to try to squeeze that lab test in before work or at lunch and then get upset when you have to wait. If everyone is complaining about the same thing maybe you should realize this is just the way it is just like you can accept the wait at the doctors office. Plan your time accordingly. You wait in the doctors office, you wait in ER, why not wait to get blood and just like we might have you for about five minutes how long does your doctor spend with you before being whisked away to another patient, or how long did that ER doctor attend to you (if you even saw a doctor)? You were lucky or dying if you got more than five minutes. What’s the difference? People look to dr’s like they are gods, can do no wrong, and should be waited on hand in feet. What makes us different. If you havent noticed we are all on the same team. We all work together. There is no hierachy and every health care worker is important.
My story about wait times- People were actually complaining because they had to wait and we had a patient behind the doors that had fainted, nurses and doctors had to be paged, she had to be put on a heart monitor and even while the paramedics were wheeling her out people were still looking on in disgust- at the faces on their watch with no regard or empathy to the patient. Please excuse the hell out of the patient for passing out and we are sorry for not stepping over her body continuing to take care all of you. Some people actually asked if we could draw their blood in the waiting room, lol.
And on the racial issue, lol when did LabCorp become racist? People can we please stop judging everyone by one persons actions, and furthermore you would have to do at least a weeks observation of every person of every race that that person came in contact with to justify your insult that she is racist. Based on your reaction to label her as racist you uncover the racism in yourself.
I’m trying to figure out how LabCorp became the enemy and the root of everyone’s problems. Maybe I will get some of LabCorps satisfied customers and have them post on here. They exist too! (surprise)
Oh yeah and thank you for clarifying that its not everyone in LabCorp just the managing people (cant find your exact quote). I’m not being sarcastic. I really appreciate it because I work very hard to do my best at LabCorp and I’m happy that you are not saying that EVERY SINGLE PERSON in LabCorp… well… sucks:)
While I dont agree with this website I hope that it has some type of positive long term effect.
I will never deal with Labcorp again. First, they took over 4 months to bill me. Then, they told me the bill was a mistake, and they’d take care of it with my Dr. and insurance. I talk to the Dr. and my insurance multiple times; Labcorp did nothing. Labcorp told me they’d file an appeal with my insurer. They finally filed it late and neglected to include the letter they received from my Dr. Two months after they filed the appeal, their automated service says the claim is still pending. I call my insurer; they say it was denied 3 weeks ago. No one ever informed me of anything. I try to use Labcorp’s online billing system, and it states my information was not found. I call Labcorp customer service. After waiting 30 min. on hold, I explain the situation. The clueless rep. says she will “research” it, which is what countless reps have told me in the past when nothing was done. I have been screwing around with this for almost a year and I’m not doing it any more. They can sue me. I’m a lawyer and can easily defend myself. They can pay their lawyers $300 an hour to collect their $200 bill. I will dispute anything they try to put on my spotless credit. This is the worst run company I have ever encountered.
Labcorp took on more than they could handle. HR could care less about the employees who are over worked and under paid. They promote people based on favoritism rather than experience. In Elmhurst, IL, they promoted a driver with no lab testing experience to the Group Lead of Micro Biology. More than half of the space in the lab is abandon; they use desk drawers as storage for specimens. This place is in need of an inspection. The lab area is a complete dump!
I’m caught in some kind of insurance/Medicare hell and can’t find the exit door!
Due to the wrong codes, my welcome to Medicare physicals have been coming back to haunt me. The problem started when I went to Kelsey-Seybold for my welcome to Medicare physical. I ended up being billed for the whole amount from all the K-S amounts as well as the almost $700 worth of LabCorp testing. Medicare won’t pay because the codes submitted were for “routine” medical care and procedures. My co-ins won’t pay because Medicare won’t pay. I’m not going to pay because I’ve got insurance and it’s b.s. to be billed for the full amount like I didn’t have any.
Medicare tells me that I have to go back to the provider to get the codes changed. Kelsey-Seybold tells me that I have to get their physician to change the codes. The physician did get the codes changed on HIS portion and has been paid by Medicare, my co-insurance and me.
The EKG that he ordered has not been paid, again, I suppose because the codes are wrong.
LabCorp representatives told me that they couldn’t do anything about this that the original doctor would have to submit the proper codes to them in order to enable Medicare to pay, etc.
In the meantime I’m getting billed from all sides. I wrote the doctor a letter explaining the problems and nothing has been done. No return letter, no phone call, no help at all.
I’m at my wit’s end. I’m going to try one more time to contact K-S and any help that LabCorp could provide would be greatly appreciated.
I feel so sorry for you. This is common with Lab Corp. I worked at Lab Corp and all I did was clean up mess after mess, 99% Lab Corps fault. I will be praying for all the patients.
Doesnt look like I am the only one who has been victimized. I recently had a visit to Labcorp Montclair, NJ office January 2009. They purposely turned the heat off in the waiting area. Had heat turned on in the back were only 1 Technician was working. There service is a complete rip off. I had a bad experience with them over a year and a half ago. It took every bit of 7-9 months to tell tem I refuse to pay the Dam Bill of which they purposely typed the incorrect ICD codes. This is get the patient to pay them directly then also have payment received from the Insurance company. Buttom line you are the patient you must select as to what lab you prefer to use. I go with Quest Diagnostic, at least they are more pleasant, polite and they have yet tried to rob or steal from me.
I had to take a pre-employment drug screen at labcorp and my test came back negative, but the company I was applying to made me go again. I did so and they turned me down for the job because my tests came back “negative dilute” which makes it look like I tried to hide something. I have not even had as much as an aspirin in the last several weeks and nothing illegal in many years. The company’s policy is not to hire when your drug screen comes back this way so I got screwed. I have no idea why this happened and neither does anyone else I know. Does anyone out there know what makes this happen or did LABCORP screw up?
i had an incident about three days ago with one of labcorps employees. i went to the jackson heights location and i told the ladie that i needed to get my blood drawn and also i needed my sugar test done since i am 8 months pregnant. first of all i signed in to be seen but i asked her about my sugar test and she said “oh you need an appointment for that” so i said ok so give me an appointment she gaved me a dirty look like she couldn’t stand me i put her in place i told ger that i wasn’t there to be seen for free and she called me retarted i called her a bitch and i just went off on her… well i personally think which i know labcorp is not going to do shit about that and other incidents because they simply don’t give a damn but i contacted my lawyer about this and they should be hearing from my lawyer very soon.
A negative but dilute sample is not considered a positive. The worst that happens is it is recommended that an observed collection be performed. It is interesting that you seem to have had a negative drug screen but your employer requested a second drug screen. That is not normal unless there is reasonable suspicion but since this was a pre-employment that would not be the case. The “dilution status” of a sample is based on the creatinine concentration and the specific gravity of the urine. It is a 3 step procedure to reach the status of dilute. The initial creatinine result must be <20 mg/dL. A repeat test on another aliquot (portion) of the original sample must be performed with a concetration of <20 mg/dL. Then the specific gravity of the urine is measured and it must be less than 1.002. Only then will a sample be reported as dilute. It is possible to reach the dilute status through consumption of excess water or diuretics (including caffeine).
While mistakes do unfortunately happen, they are extremely rare. The identity of the sample is checked every time it is touched for testing. All would be documented on a custody and control form. It is doubtful that any error was made in the case of Smallsteve.
I have NEVER In my life been more disgusted with a receptionist. I went in today to Labcorp for my 1 hour glucose test. While waiting there I watched the receptionist be nasty to just about everyone that walked through the door. She was chewing gum the whole time popping little bubbles constantly which was driving me crazy..
Shed answer the phone – HELLO?? HELLOOOOOOOO? etc..
If people would ask her a question shed just tell them I dont know – to everything.. she didnt know approx how long the wait was, or how much a copay was, or ANYTHING..
But just the way she spoke to people on the phone and in person was just AMAZING to me that she still has a job.. Someone made a joke about her gum chewing and she said ,” well if she didnt chew it shed be going off on someone.” etc etc…
But the real kicker – I was just speechless.. was when she called in a little girl who was like 2 or 3. (Previously she was very rude to the mom at the desk, not sure if it was b/c she didnt understand English very well?) She didnt speak English.. I hear the little girl start screaming. Then the lady in the back asks the receptionist to help her hold her down.. Then SCREAMING for at least 15 minutes.. It was terrible. Everyone in the waiting room was just amazed. Her mom was in there too, and didnt speak English. I hear the receptionist yelling, “JESUS CHRIST!” “Thank God I dont have babies anymore!” “I cant stand me those babies.” “listen little girl, the more you move the more I have to poke you, the more its gonna hurt.” etc etc etc..
That poor little baby must have been so terrified! Im just DISGUSTED!
There were only 2 people in the office today so Im sure it wouldnt be hard to figure out who it was. Patchogue NY
The people at LabCorp in Orange, TX and Port Arthur, TX are the most courteous and friendliest people I have met. They treat me with respect and are very fast at what they do, even with several people in the waiting area. I am an ER nurse and I know sometimes the job can be frustrating but you can’t take it out on your patients. If you don’t like the LabCorp office you are going to you need to switch, and make a complaint. One rotten apple shouldn’t spoil the whole bunch. Next time take a recorder in with you to record the conversation then play it for the manager or send it to the news station, that will stop them.
Congrats, on getting good service in Orange, TX, Rico, but here in Arizona the labs really are bad. The site coordinators don’t listen when patients voice their concerns, or complain. They turn a deaf ear. The phlebotomy supervisor doesn’t respond when you call her to voice a concern or complaint. If you kiss ass you’re in like flint, or if you know the right people. If you don’t, then it’s piss on you. I know this how–because I know several LabCorp employees and have talked to them. They are understaffed, work long hours without breaks and or lunches, are told they can’t have overtime but are expected to stay until the last patient is drawn even if it’s past closing. The supervisors don’t know how to supervise, they like to threaten employees. Employees have differences and it’s the fault of the one that speaks up and says something happened and not the fault of the one that actually did whatever–
Are you kidding me even with a recording of all the crap that goes on at these sites, the supervisors, and their supervisors wouldn’t think about doing squat. It’s a poorly run company, that thinks only of herding people in and herding them out. The ALMIGHTY DOLLAR SCREAMS. You get treated like crap, but are expected to give the company your all and when you do your job, are you appreciated and recognized for it–ONLY IF THEY LIKE YOU.
In spring of 2006 I started having the CD4, CBC, and HIV RNA BDNA (3rd generation) tests done. This was at about 3 month intervals. Reasons for the tests:
I have survived HIV(AIDS) naturally for over 27 years WITHOUT ever taking AZT or any other meds for it. Fall of 2005 I had gotten a prostate and blood system infection, hospitalized 17 days. After that hospital stay I decided it was time to start watching the counts. Also, I applied for SSI due to inability to work enough to support myself.
I lived in Calif and my “labs” were usually done through Quest Diagnostics. Typically and usually my viral load (BDNA) stays below 6,000 and my CD4 is in the 200 to 300 range. A couple of times my CD4 dropped below 200 thus I now have AIDS status (even though my CD4 count is back up again, yes my SSI was approved too). I never had complaints about Quest Diagnostics.
Summer of 2008 I moved from Calif to Wash state. The first two doctors I saw at one clinic were real dummies (to put it nicely) and they both put false info into my chart (I thought about filing a complaint against them but too much bother). Nevertheless, the one doc did not believe me that I was/am HIV even though I have all of my medical reports and other papers. He requested the HIV Rflx test (that is to see if I am positive or negative). The blood samples were sent to Labcorp in Seattle. That was July 2008.
When the Labcorp results came back it showed negative. I phoned them and said I’m HIV 27 years. They said they would look again at the blood. Next day I phoned them and they said they showed an update on their computer and that the sample was being sent back to their east coast lab. (Yes, they realized “oops”.) When the report finally came back it showed all half dozen plus items as positive/reactive. Yes, Labcorp initially gave a false negative then they gave the correct report.
I “do” understand that for Viral Load testing that PCR can be used or BDNA can be used. The prior is cheaper, uses less expensive equipment, gives result faster, and the BDNA uses more expensive equipment and may take longer and may cost slightly more. The number results between PCR and BDNA tests are not the same. If the same draw of blood (two samples were sent) and both tests performed the PCR would give higher numbers and the BDNA would have lower. In other words PCR results are 2 to 3 times higher than BDNA, and there is no exact conversion between the two tests’ sets of results. Thus if BDNA showed 5,000 the equivilent for a PCR number might be 10,000 to 15,000. Once a doctor starts using one type of test (PCR or BDNA) they should stay with the same kind of test to keep charting as accurate. As for which test might be more accurate or better, I cannot say at this time and don’t know if that is known. Either is probably ok.
Second problem with Labcorp follows.
October 2008 my CD4 dropped again below 200 whereas I had a breathing problem. I was in the hospital 5 days. Squamous cancer, advanced stage, right lung. Chemo and surgery not recommended. (Fine with me and I can live with that too, I concur with no chemo or surgery — would affect quality of life). My CD4 at the hospital was 154.
Since the hospital and discovery of the lung cancer I have my blood drawn monthly for CD4, CBC, and Viral Load. (Get a heads-up on any problems from anything.)
My CD4 has been climbing back up, monthly it has been from the 154, to 170, then 235, then 252, then 280, then 324 (Apr 2009 my most current). Usually and most often when the CD4 goes UP the Viral Load will go down, conversely if CD4 goes down Viral Load will go UP. The CD4 is sort of an indication of the strength of your immune system. Higher CD4 is better (thus logical for the interactions as described).
For the CD4 of 252 the BDNA was 5743. For the CD4 of 280 the BDNA was 5372. But now for the April 8 2009 blood draw the CD4 is at 324 yet I am told that the BDNA is at 13,347. Yikes! The BDNA I would think should have been lower!
I phoned my clinic, yes, they did request the BDNA test rather than PCR. Labcorp says that they did do the test as per requested. But I was not able to get them to check any actual work sheet or with the actual person who performed the lab test.
I strongly feel that they did the test as PCR whereas if it was as PCR with 13,347 then the “rough equivilent” would be about 4,000 to 5,000 for a BDNA value (divide PCR number by about 2 or 3).
4,000 to 5,000 would be an approximate expected number for BDNA (yes the CD4 had went UP so the Viral Load should be down to about this range).
Poor communication with Labcorp after my several calls to them on this topic.
I “suspect” that they either were cutting costs and did the less costly and faster PCR test, or the lab tech did not see the written request for BDNA and this their normal PCR style test. The test could have been done in the local Seattle office as PCR or in San Diego. A lab tech could have errored at either facility. I feel that it was an (accidental) oversight by them or a cost cutting measure (deliberate). In general I feel the number of 13,347 is not correct and considering that Labcorp in July gave me a false negative I have my doubts about Labcorp.
I have scheduled an appt with my clinic for tomorrow for a blood draw, only for the Viral Load test (BDNA), April 24. Yes, it will be two weeks after the April 8 test. But if the results of this test come back with a value near 5,000 then I will know almost for sure that they did the cheaper PCR test.
I believe that looking at my other lab test results, including a chart that I made up, all upon my website, that considering that my BDNA has never gone above 6,000 since spring of 2006 it is obvious the 13,347 is not correct as a BDNA test but is more probably the number result for a PCR test.
If Labcorp is making errors then it could affect treatment, health, and lives. If they accidentally did the PCR style test they should have confirmed that and admitted it and on their report they could have said we goofed and did the wrong type of test. I could accept an admission of a human error, but don’t lie to me or to other people. If they have lied it could seriously affect a person’s life.
It will be interesting to see the forthcoming result in about a week for the BDNA test blood draw being taken on April 24.
Additionally, I will have my next normal blood draw for all 3 items, CD4, CBC, and BDNA Viral Load somewhere around May 6 to 13th, so it will be interesting to see those results at that time too.
If in fact I find that Labcorp is continuing to make errors or is concealing their mistakes or is lying about which test has been done, then I will pursue the matter through any licensing agencies, any medical boards, and will contact my insurance (through WA state). I will give an update later for the April 24 test and then for the one to occur in May 2009.
Note (again) my monthly blood tests are to give a heads-up of any serious or gradual changes to my HIV/AIDS status as well as general health considering that I now function on basically one lung. I do not take HIV/AIDS meds so I am lucky. At least a doctor did not take the increase in Viral Load (to that 13,347) as an indicator to change meds or dosage. I am safe that way.
Yes, I consider myself lucky having survived HIV naturally without pill dependencies or side effects, and I hope to live a long time on just one good lung (I am now just very limited for activities with one lung and I must be more careful of exposures etc).
Labcorp in Murrieta california was very rude to me. The lady in the front desk did not know what she was doing. She asked me for the paperwork and when i handed it to her, she said that the id number for my urine sample was not there. I looked at the paperwork and pointed out that it was there clearly in plain sight. She got up and went to the back, i was the only person at the facility and she made me wait for over an hour to get my urine sample. Every time i asked her a question she did not respond. I hope that place closes.
The LabCorp in Bayonne is a nightmare! Over an hour and a half wait with only five people in front of me. Receptionist had zero customer service skills, consistently spoke in Spanish to the other employees and the place was a filthy shithole, to boot.
Completely disorganized with phones ringing unanswered, totally understaffed and, again, they have the people skills of Al Qeda.
Go ANYWHERE but this joint (down at the Stop and Shop plaza)!
This is great! It really shows me where to expand my blog. I think that sometime in the future I might try to write a book to go along with my blog, but we will see…Good post with useful tips and ideas
I use the Lab Corp in Akron, Ohio for random urine drug screenings for the OBN. Lab Corp is the collection site only, then the specimen is sent to First Lab in Pennsylvania. In December of 2008, my test result came back positive for Darvocet. The specimen was then retested and again came back positive. I vehemently denied taking Darvocet, then paid for and passed a lie detector test. I did not witness the lab tech pour my specimen into the specimen vial, and can only wonder if my specimen could have been switched with another person’s. Has anyone ever had a similar experience?
This email is in response to what occurred this morning while waiting on a blood test at one of your companies patient service centers listed below:

I have been to this Labcorp office several times for testing, every time there is at least a 30 minute wait. The technicians start coming in around 8:30am – 9am. One lady is there answering the phone. This morning I came in with 4 people ahead of me at 8:20am. At 9am, there were still 2 people ahead of me and an office waiting room filling up.
While I was waiting, the one answering the phone basically told an old man she couldn’t help him because nothing was written on his orders. The old man was confused and she just stood there and didn’t say a word or try to help. The man left the office and another kind lady who was waiting rushed out the door to give him some advice.
I will never go to this horrible office again. You need to do something about this, the other people couldn’t afford to just leave like I did. There were several other patients getting very upset. This location is the most unprofessionally run I have ever been to. I will never make this mistake again. I will be contacting my doctors office and my United Health care representative at work to complain as well.
Colleen, If this was a chain of custody you made a major error. one of the lines that you sing indicates that YOU witnessed the sample being poured over into the single or split bottles and YOU also witnessed the sample being sealed. You further initialed the seals on the bottle.
You may very well have had a prescription for this and not known it. Without sounding sexist it is common for women that suffer PMS or migraines are given this medication, normally as darvocet. The active ingredients are propoxyphene and acetaminophen. The generic version is normally listed as propoxyphene/APAP 65 (or 100)/325. There are many variations on this. Mistakes, such as you suggest, are extremely rare, especially if handled properly as was outlined above. You may want to consult with your physician(s) to see if any of then did prescribe this without you understanding. It is also possible, but highly unlikely, the pharmacy made an error. I have personally witnessed this.
Look again SAMHSA.
Colleen did not witness anything. Here are her exact words in the blog, “I did not witness the lab tech pour my specimen into the specimen vial, and can only wonder if my specimen could have been switched with another person’s.”
YOU better read that blog again before SINGING.
If you cannot read these blogs without making an error, heaven help the lab test results!
if you did not witness the procedure than why would you sign??? When you sign that paper your saying that you witnessed them, right??? Is it possible for you to retest??? This time having an eagle eye on these people? Im not sure about how this works since we dont do drug screens at my site so I cant really tell you what should be done but Im trying to help so maybe ask for another one…. also consider your meds and have your doctor list all your meds and ask your pharm. for a list of whats in them. And dont go back to that site. Consider using another one in your area.
Colleen did not witness the test or sign.
Please read her blog below.
I copied and pasted it for all to see.

There you have it. Where in the world does she mention witnessing and signing for the procedure?
Am I missing something here?
where did she say she did NOT sign???? she said she did not witness, but never did she say that she didnt sign. Her signature is required in order to submit her sample. And IF she signed she has agreed that it was in fact her urine. Before you go all copy and paste happy, maybe YOU need to read her posting. And to answer your question… your missing the fact that SHE NEVER SAID SHE DID NOT SIGN!!!!! There is no way that a drug test was given without her signature. And if it was and she did not sign, than there can actually be a lawsuit. A copy of that form (with her signature) is faxed over to the employer. It is very simple to prove that a signature is missing or does not match.
So now Mr. “MAJOR ERROR SINGER”, do you have a problem with other people correcting you? In a few postings prior to your last, you told SAMHSA to read the blog again. So, now that I ask you to do the same, you say to bone up on my email manners??? Where were yours? I simply wanted to help Colleen and asked if she signed that form in order for me to give her further advice in her situation. Just because she said that she didnt see anything does not mean that she did not sign that chain of custody. SAMHSA is right. If the chain of cutody was signed, and she did not witness, she made the error, not LabCorp.
Calm down Anonymous!
It’s not worth it for you to get all stressed out and make spelling errors.
Here is an addtional cut and paste happy.
“Before you go all copy and paste happy, maybe YOU need to read her posting”.
Do you call that mannerly?
However, you have the last word because this is the end of my side of our debate.
I wish you all the best in your continued defense of Labcorp, and I am quite sure it will lead you to many promotions within your company.
major error signer, did you mean signer? Colleen can say what she wants to on the blog. The FACTS of drug testing procedures were spelled out above. The donor signs the form in multiple locations acknowledging that it was her urine, that she witnessed the sample being poured from the collection cup into bottles that were sealed shut prior to being opened to receive the urine and that the bottles were then sealed and put into the specimen bag. She also would have initialed the seals that were affixed to the bottles AFTER they were sealed.
If she was to try to take this to court all of the above, and significantly more would be examined. Any and all arguments by her of the site switching the sample would be thrown out based on her signatures attesting to certain steps in the collection process. If her signatures are not present in the designated areas the drug screen would not be valid. The results would be thrown out by the medical review officer (MRO) if there was ANY chain of custody problem.
major error singer is, unfortunately, an obnoxious fool who knows nothing about drug testing. I recommend that you either read drug screening regulations before bloviating any further on this or retreat to your cave with your light beer and further enlighten us with your ignorance.
Let’s give another round of applause to, “SAMHSA certifying officer for Labcorp”.
Once again a Labcorp employee who will be promoted very quickly within the company.
Congratulations on your name calling, rudeness, and “know it all” nature.
As I can see from many LabCorp complaints on this site there are lots of LabCorp employees, such as you.
You make a bad name for the good employees, I see blog here once in a while.
MAJOR ERROR SINGER is the correct name, thank you.
That’s it for me kiddo, you have the final word. Good Luck!
It is truly unfortunate that people like major error singer think they are smarter than they are. As a court recognized expert in the field of drug testing for over 20 years, YES, I do think I basically know it all. I have testified in court over 200 times on 15 states for both sides, employers and donors. My record in court shows I have been on the prevailing side over 95% of the time. I am not a Labcorp employee. I am an independent consultant. I monitor this site for issues such as this. My goal is to educate. There are far too many misconceptions surrounding drug screening. I am based in Dallas, TX. There is a Labcorp facility in Dallas but it is not certified for Federal Drug Testing. The closest Labcorp SAMHSA facility is in Houston. Simply because a post is presented that is factual does not imply that the poster is an employee of Labcorp. I do find it interesting that Colleen has not responded since her initial post. It is probable that my initial post answered her questions. FirstLab is located outside of Philadelphia, PA but is is not laboratory. They are a third party administrator of substance abuse testing programs. Colleen, I wish you luck in resolving this. mr. singer I recommend anger management therapy and less caffeine.
This type of thing happened a lot while I was employed there. I have acutually gone to court over this matter before. Is it possible that everything was done correctly when collecting the sample and then once the sample arrived at the testing facility, then it was switched? I have worked in collecting and I have also worked in specimen processing. I have seen samples that were collected properly and switched at the testing facility by accident. I myself have switched labels at the testing facility by accident. We processed 20,000 specimens a shift. I usually processed about 800-900 in a eight hour shift. We were slapped on the hand for this but nothing ever became of our mistakes. I certainly wasn’t the only one to make mistakes either. I just wondered because the court case I was involved in in the Chicago region was about the same thing. He signed the labels right in front of me. I never sealed more than one specimen at time and I always had the patient witness the sealing of thier sample. Yet it still happened. I felt very bad for this gentlemen. He lost he job and his case. It has never sit right with me.
I forgot to state that the specimens I collected were drug screens but the specimens I processed at the lab were blood/colinical specimens. I made a fatal error once and the specimen was resulted out incorrectly. My supervisor had to notify the account. While I tried very hard, mistakes do happen. If this can happen to Lab Corp’s clinical specimens, then can it happen to thier drug screens? I resigned from Lab Corp about a year ago because of the same type of thing that is going on on this blogsite. I worked there for 14 years and just couldn’t take the backstabbing, name calling and general unprofessionalism I had experienced there. There was so much of this going on, I can understand why mistakes happen. I really enjoyed working with the patients. They were the reason I stayed as long as I did. I really thought I /Lab Corp was making a difference in peoples lives. I believe that Lab Corp has a lot of people that do care working there. Working in the lab, third shift is another story. It’s all about the numbers. We have to have all our work done by 5:30 am. I know that this is for the patients. Some people are very sick and need their results asap. My concern was for the patients but I personally felt that the amount of specimens we received and the time that they expected them done in was ridiculous. I didn’t have time to look if names were correct. I was trying so hard to make my quota for the night and I was afraid not to because my supervisor would put me on a PIP if I didn’t. We could have used about 5 more people in our department but they would never hire anyone.
I am trying to get Labcorp to correct their submission to my insurance company, to no avail.
I had two sets of bloodwork done on the same day: one set for a general physical and one set to confirm a diagnosis of Lyme disease. The doctor submitted the two appropriate diagnosis codes, and my insurance would cover both sets if submitted properly.
The difficulty is that Labcorp listed both diagnostic reference codes next to every lab test, with the general physical diagnostic code listed first. My insurance company “reads” only the first code next to each procedure, and therefore denies the claim for the Lyme tests because (obviously) they are not indicated for an annual physical.
The Labcorp billing representatives claim that they cannot fill out the form in any other way, not even manually on an exception basis.
If the doctor differentiates between different tests, then when Labcorp blends them together they are no longer following the doctor’s instructions, which violates the applicable laws governing their practices.
At my request, my doctor re-submitted the same diagnosis codes, but of course that makes no difference. The problem is in the way that Labcorp lists all diagnosis codes with each individual procedure.
The Labcorp billing reps seem to be 100% limited to their script; do any readers of this blog recommend how to break through to someone who can actually solve a problem?
I went in to Labcorp to have a pre-employment drug screen done (on Friday). I couldn’t go just quite enough (even though it filled the transfer vile to the line). The tech made me drink a bunch of water and I waited 40 minutes (making me extremely late for my job) before I could go again. Today (Tuesday) I got a phone call from my future employer and they said that there was a problem and I had to talk to a doctor on the Labcorp medical review board. So after they forgot about me on hold for 15 minutes I found out that the doctors were in a meeting. About an hour later a doctor called me back. She immediately had an additude, treating me like a drug addict instead of, ya know one of their own! (I work in another lab and was applying for a blood bank lab) She said that there was no way that the water I drank in Labcorp could have diluted the sample that much. They want me to go again, but this time it has to be an observed collection, but I can’t because I work 9a-5p and none of the Labcorps take drug screens before or after I get out of work (most don’t even do it around lunch time). So I had to forfeit the job that I have been trying to get for 8 months because of the idiot at Labcorp. Thank You so much. It will always make me smile when people tell me what a better phleb I am than “those people”. Anyone know if I can take legal action? I live in Florida.
Where’s Mr. LabCorp? | 21 Nov 2009 4:48 pm
Well, I guess I need to join the ranks here also. I work at a ’satellite’ lab of LabCorp here in Middle Tennessee just south of Nashville and I am having a less than pleasant experience at my job. I have been there 3.5 months and never been late or miss a day. Always work overtime if asked (I am part-time). Always go home early if asked. (One day we work too much overtime and it has GOT to stop and the next day they tell us we HAVE to stay ‘whether we like it or not’.HA! We ALL know the labs are going to be processed NO MATTER WHAT so why do they play this game??? The ‘team leader’ is a ‘glorified gopher’ and very belittling in front of an employee’s peers. Nothing is private. If you screw up, EVERYone knows about it. On the contrary, when there is an ‘announcement’ such as overtime or a new policy, etc, only the ONE side of the cubicle hears it and that’s the side the team leader is on…the other side can (and does) stay out of the loop. Later…when you didn’t hear what the others heard, you suffer the wrath. Very unprofessional team leader. Between the music and gossip about their home-life, a new employee struggles to learn their job. The TL can talk all day but the employees are not ‘allowed’ to talk while they work. This TL rolls their eyes and shakes their head at you when you have a question while telling you later that ‘there is no such thing as a stupid question.’ They will tell you that you will still learn one or two years in on the job but will shake their head at you if you don’t know it ALL within a few months. It is ‘hinted’ to you that ‘You don’t want to go up front to talk with the Manager of the Lab as if you were putting your life in your hands. What is this Manager going to do to me? Electrocute me in their chair? I work because I CHOOSE to…not because I HAVE to! There is a huge difference there. In fact, my husband begs me to quit. He has come close to calling there to let them know what they put me through. I have been told I am not ‘learning’ as I should. Yet I have been told I am the FASTEST at what I do. I have been told that a young girl that started has ‘caught on’ much faster than I and when I mentioned I am not 25 anymore, I was accused of trying to bring ‘age’ into it. I am accused of ‘not learning’ when in fact many things weren’t even explained or taught to me. The TL ‘ASSumes’ the employees learn EVERYthing the first couple weeks. If indeed laboratory work were that easy, EVERYone would have a job there! I’m tired of it but not before I make it known what goes on. And I don’t mean to the TL. I mean Mr. LabCorp himself. I think the Managers need to get more involved rather than dumping it off on some ‘team leader’ that isn’t any smarter than I am, they just ACT like they are’.
Hiring a few more people wouldn’t hurt as they have a huge turnover (hmmm…I wonder why) and EVERYday we hear…’We gotta get going, we’re behind…get moving…we’re not meeting turn-around-time.’ Same S***…Different Day!
I have to say one thing about the LabCorp on Donelson Pike in Nashville, TN! HIRE MORE PEOPLE! I have been there on several occasions for bloodwork and drug screens and NEVER has there been a receptionist at the window. I’m talking about for a half hour to 45 minutes at a time! The waiting room will be PACKED and people signing in left and right and taking a seat and nobody at the window. Finally someone comes to the window as if they have been there all along. I would be embarassed. How can LC expect people to respect them when they can’t hire someone to watch the window and answer questions. It is pathetic! Where are all the managers of this company? Do they have any smarts? Do they keep in contact with HR to inform them of their need for additional employees? What does the Human Resources Dept do to see to it that the LabCorps are properly staffed? Somewhere is a FAT rat at LabCorp behind a desk making a LOT of m$ney by their lack of liason with HR. Employees are trying to do too much due to lack of hiring!
I feel sorry for the people that work there…both in the labs and in the draw sites. I worked there and took calls from the sites and I know they are overworked, underpaid and totally stressed. Well folks get ready for more of the same, I think Labcorp is on the ball when it comes to socialized medicine. They are already treating patients like numbers without any interest in patient care or accurate results. Inept management strolls around stuffing their faces with that weeks potluck offerings…Christmas bonus..its in the crockpot.
Hey….Centrex Clinical L abs is officially LabCorp of America. Will keep you all informed of how things turn out. From what you all have been saying…..I beleive I am in for a treat. Wish me luck
Hello, I have never used labcorp’s services but my concern is a pre-employment drug test that I have to take this week. I was offered the job of my dreams and this is the only hurdle left. I am very concerned with the previous posts about drug tests getting screwed up and false positives occuring. I really need this job, I have been laid off for 10 months and I can’t imagine not getting the job because of labcorp technician’s errors or dilution from drinking water. I drink water constantly and eat very little in general so now I’m really concerned. Please help! Thank you!
To all of the commenting lab corp employees. If you don’t like your job, get another one! If your employer is abusing you, report it! There is no excuse for giving sub-par service. If you don’t like dealing with people, please find another profession. I don’t go to LabCorp. I was on this site for another reason, but these employees need to have some pride in their work. There is no excuse for mistreating your customers. That’s right CUSTOMERS!
Hi,
My wife is 6 months pregnant and she went for a blood glucose and other tests to be taken during her 24-28 week period on 7th May, 2010.
Today(17 May , 2010) she is very sick and when we called our physicians office for an appointment they said they could not get results from labcorp. When I called the labcorp customer service for details, they could not find the patient info in their system and said they will reorder for redrawing the patients blood , for which she has go past again. She is very sick and we are in a situation where we could not get her results. The customer agent said Just ‘apologies and sorry’. Does this correct if any thing goes wrong???
It would be of great help if someone here can tell us how to take action against labcorp, so that at least they will be careful for their future patients.
I am definitely going to say to our physician to not to recommend to labcorp anymore!!
Terri
To Robin…There is a long list of chemicals and medicines that can cause false positives in drug tests.Do some research on the subject..

Yea, LabCorp sucks.
Any ideas on how to get this resolved?
Sincerely,
Kelly

“sir I cant help you im busy you must sit down” I said all i want to do is drop this off, and again “sir sit down i cant help you your casuing a scene and i refuse to help you”
this woman was the nastiest person i have come across in a long time, i ended up throwing my stool sample at her and filing a complaint through my doctors office. she was older around mid 60′s black hair with some gray in it. how else can i file a complaint??
thanks
Greg
Amazing site. Go get um. Bad guys.
Thanks, admin.
My medical history (pretty much complete) is upon my own website, http://www.riverpages.com/believe-it-hiv-proof.html
Watch for my updates and thanks for reading.

COLLEEN,
Please put this debate to rest. Is Anonymous correct? Did you sign?
My dear Anonymous please bone up on YOUR email manners!
OOPS! Typo! I meant additional, see what happens when one gets all worked up?
major error signer, did you mean signer?
Bravo SAMHSA certifying officer!!!!
