Hi,
My wife is 6 months pregnant and she went for a blood glucose and other tests to be taken during her 24-28 week period on 7th May, 2010.
Today(17 May , 2010) she is very sick and when we called our physicians office for an appointment they said they could not get results from labcorp. When I called the labcorp customer service for details, they could not find the patient info in their system and said they will reorder for redrawing the patients blood , for which she has go past again. She is very sick and we are in a situation where we could not get her results. The customer agent said Just 'apologies and sorry'. Does this correct if any thing goes wrong???
It would be of great help if someone here can tell us how to take action against labcorp, so that at least they will be careful for their future patients.
I am definitely going to say to our physician to not to recommend to labcorp anymore!!

To all of the commenting lab corp employees. If you don't like your job, get another one! If your employer is abusing you, report it! There is no excuse for giving sub-par service. If you don't like dealing with people, please find another profession. I don't go to LabCorp. I was on this site for another reason, but these employees need to have some pride in their work. There is no excuse for mistreating your customers. That's right CUSTOMERS!

Hello, I have never used labcorp's services but my concern is a pre-employment drug test that I have to take this week. I was offered the job of my dreams and this is the only hurdle left. I am very concerned with the previous posts about drug tests getting screwed up and false positives occuring. I really need this job, I have been laid off for 10 months and I can't imagine not getting the job because of labcorp technician's errors or dilution from drinking water. I drink water constantly and eat very little in general so now I'm really concerned. Please help! Thank you!

I feel sorry for the people that work there...both in the labs and in the draw sites. I worked there and took calls from the sites and I know they are overworked, underpaid and totally stressed. Well folks get ready for more of the same, I think Labcorp is on the ball when it comes to socialized medicine. They are already treating patients like numbers without any interest in patient care or accurate results. Inept management strolls around stuffing their faces with that weeks potluck offerings...Christmas bonus..its in the crockpot.

I have to say one thing about the LabCorp on Donelson Pike in Nashville, TN! HIRE MORE PEOPLE! I have been there on several occasions for bloodwork and drug screens and NEVER has there been a receptionist at the window. I'm talking about for a half hour to 45 minutes at a time! The waiting room will be PACKED and people signing in left and right and taking a seat and nobody at the window. Finally someone comes to the window as if they have been there all along. I would be embarassed. How can LC expect people to respect them when they can't hire someone to watch the window and answer questions. It is pathetic! Where are all the managers of this company? Do they have any smarts? Do they keep in contact with HR to inform them of their need for additional employees? What does the Human Resources Dept do to see to it that the LabCorps are properly staffed? Somewhere is a FAT rat at LabCorp behind a desk making a LOT of m$ney by their lack of liason with HR. Employees are trying to do too much due to lack of hiring!

Where's Mr. LabCorp? | 21 Nov 2009 4:48 pm
Well, I guess I need to join the ranks here also. I work at a ’satellite’ lab of LabCorp here in Middle Tennessee just south of Nashville and I am having a less than pleasant experience at my job. I have been there 3.5 months and never been late or miss a day. Always work overtime if asked (I am part-time). Always go home early if asked. (One day we work too much overtime and it has GOT to stop and the next day they tell us we HAVE to stay ‘whether we like it or not’.HA! We ALL know the labs are going to be processed NO MATTER WHAT so why do they play this game??? The ‘team leader’ is a ‘glorified gopher’ and very belittling in front of an employee’s peers. Nothing is private. If you screw up, EVERYone knows about it. On the contrary, when there is an ‘announcement’ such as overtime or a new policy, etc, only the ONE side of the cubicle hears it and that’s the side the team leader is on…the other side can (and does) stay out of the loop. Later…when you didn’t hear what the others heard, you suffer the wrath. Very unprofessional team leader. Between the music and gossip about their home-life, a new employee struggles to learn their job. The TL can talk all day but the employees are not ‘allowed’ to talk while they work. This TL rolls their eyes and shakes their head at you when you have a question while telling you later that ‘there is no such thing as a stupid question.’ They will tell you that you will still learn one or two years in on the job but will shake their head at you if you don’t know it ALL within a few months. It is ‘hinted’ to you that ‘You don’t want to go up front to talk with the Manager of the Lab as if you were putting your life in your hands. What is this Manager going to do to me? Electrocute me in their chair? I work because I CHOOSE to…not because I HAVE to! There is a huge difference there. In fact, my husband begs me to quit. He has come close to calling there to let them know what they put me through. I have been told I am not ‘learning’ as I should. Yet I have been told I am the FASTEST at what I do. I have been told that a young girl that started has ‘caught on’ much faster than I and when I mentioned I am not 25 anymore, I was accused of trying to bring ‘age’ into it. I am accused of ‘not learning’ when in fact many things weren’t even explained or taught to me. The TL ‘ASSumes’ the employees learn EVERYthing the first couple weeks. If indeed laboratory work were that easy, EVERYone would have a job there! I’m tired of it but not before I make it known what goes on. And I don’t mean to the TL. I mean Mr. LabCorp himself. I think the Managers need to get more involved rather than dumping it off on some ‘team leader’ that isn’t any smarter than I am, they just ACT like they are'.
Hiring a few more people wouldn't hurt as they have a huge turnover (hmmm...I wonder why) and EVERYday we hear...'We gotta get going, we're behind...get moving...we're not meeting turn-around-time.' Same S***...Different Day!

I went in to Labcorp to have a pre-employment drug screen done (on Friday). I couldn't go just quite enough (even though it filled the transfer vile to the line). The tech made me drink a bunch of water and I waited 40 minutes (making me extremely late for my job) before I could go again. Today (Tuesday) I got a phone call from my future employer and they said that there was a problem and I had to talk to a doctor on the Labcorp medical review board. So after they forgot about me on hold for 15 minutes I found out that the doctors were in a meeting. About an hour later a doctor called me back. She immediately had an additude, treating me like a drug addict instead of, ya know one of their own! (I work in another lab and was applying for a blood bank lab) She said that there was no way that the water I drank in Labcorp could have diluted the sample that much. They want me to go again, but this time it has to be an observed collection, but I can't because I work 9a-5p and none of the Labcorps take drug screens before or after I get out of work (most don't even do it around lunch time). So I had to forfeit the job that I have been trying to get for 8 months because of the idiot at Labcorp. Thank You so much. It will always make me smile when people tell me what a better phleb I am than "those people". Anyone know if I can take legal action? I live in Florida.

I am trying to get Labcorp to correct their submission to my insurance company, to no avail.
I had two sets of bloodwork done on the same day: one set for a general physical and one set to confirm a diagnosis of Lyme disease. The doctor submitted the two appropriate diagnosis codes, and my insurance would cover both sets if submitted properly.
The difficulty is that Labcorp listed both diagnostic reference codes next to every lab test, with the general physical diagnostic code listed first. My insurance company "reads" only the first code next to each procedure, and therefore denies the claim for the Lyme tests because (obviously) they are not indicated for an annual physical.

The Labcorp billing representatives claim that they cannot fill out the form in any other way, not even manually on an exception basis.

If the doctor differentiates between different tests, then when Labcorp blends them together they are no longer following the doctor's instructions, which violates the applicable laws governing their practices.

At my request, my doctor re-submitted the same diagnosis codes, but of course that makes no difference. The problem is in the way that Labcorp lists all diagnosis codes with each individual procedure.

The Labcorp billing reps seem to be 100% limited to their script; do any readers of this blog recommend how to break through to someone who can actually solve a problem?

I forgot to state that the specimens I collected were drug screens but the specimens I processed at the lab were blood/colinical specimens. I made a fatal error once and the specimen was resulted out incorrectly. My supervisor had to notify the account. While I tried very hard, mistakes do happen. If this can happen to Lab Corp's clinical specimens, then can it happen to thier drug screens? I resigned from Lab Corp about a year ago because of the same type of thing that is going on on this blogsite. I worked there for 14 years and just couldn't take the backstabbing, name calling and general unprofessionalism I had experienced there. There was so much of this going on, I can understand why mistakes happen. I really enjoyed working with the patients. They were the reason I stayed as long as I did. I really thought I /Lab Corp was making a difference in peoples lives. I believe that Lab Corp has a lot of people that do care working there. Working in the lab, third shift is another story. It's all about the numbers. We have to have all our work done by 5:30 am. I know that this is for the patients. Some people are very sick and need their results asap. My concern was for the patients but I personally felt that the amount of specimens we received and the time that they expected them done in was ridiculous. I didn't have time to look if names were correct. I was trying so hard to make my quota for the night and I was afraid not to because my supervisor would put me on a PIP if I didn't. We could have used about 5 more people in our department but they would never hire anyone.
