30 Jan 11 LabCorp Appointments Don’t Matter

Labcorp Appointments OnlineThe purpose of a LabCorp appointment is so that you do not have to wait too long when you go to the LabCorp Service Center for clinical lab services. LabCorp used to not take appointments and after Quest successfully implemented the appointment program, LabCorp followed suit and offers appointments through their LabCorp.com website.

I recently received an email from Brian who claims that LabCorp appointments don’t seem to matter to LabCorp service center employees. Here’s his LabCorp appointment story:

I had scheduled and kept an appointment Jan 22 , 2011 at the 2012 A Emmorton Rd site for an H.Pylori Breath test. When I got to the site they were unable to administer the test. The receptionist said they don’t give the test, the tech said they were out of the kits.

They told me there is no communication between the online appointment schedule program and the site. If this is true what is the point of using your scheduler. I was very disappointed by the receptionist . She told me I should have called to make sure they had the kit, that is an unreasonable assumption. She offered no assistance on contacting another labcorp site to see who had a kit.

I had to take the list she gave me, sit outside in the freezing cold weather and call several sites till I found the site in Dundalk that had a kit. Then I had to drive 25 miles to go take the test, this while fasting. This is the worst customer service I have ever seen in a lab. I plan to urge my employer to remove labcorp from the offerings and replace.

Sorry that you had such a terrible experience. We’ve had the opposite since the appointment scheduling came online. It has been wonderful as I book appointments on a 3-week basis for my elderly father and mother for standing order blood work in the Coachella Valley of CA. What used to entail my 85-year-old father having to wait about 45 minutes to an hour to be called for his blood drawing now results in his being called within 5 minutes of his appointment time. We have been only pleased with the scheduling system for LabCorp’s Bermuda Dunes location.

I can’t get into scheduling at Labcorp on my Vista computer but can on my Win7 laptop. I added Labcorp to Trusted Sites and still can’t. What’s up with that?

My experience has been that an appointment does NOTHING to get you in more quickly! I hate the lab closest to my home – INCOMPETENT, RUDE front desk people.

Appointments are a joke in the Tamarac, Fl office. They always have a stupid excuse, that is if and when the person behind the desk will even talk to you. There are no happy people working at Lab corp. 3/4 hour wait minimum with appointment. Lab Corp really suxs unfortnately I`m tied to them by my Insurance. That must be the reason they can get away with it.

I took a urine test this month and was just notified today that my urine test came up POSITIVE for OPIATES. I am FURIOUS right now b/c this has happened BEFORE. First let me say that for the past TEN YEARS I have been taking RANDOM MONTHLY Urine screens/tests for drugs. I do NOT USE ANY DRUGS, so how can my urine be positive for opiates?
I called Labcorp’s 800 # and wanted to know if I can take a HAIR FOLLICLE drug test and would my insurance cover it,& if they don’t, how much would it cost me to take the hair follicle test.
Customer service said that they do NOT quote prices over the phone, and that I would have to call my insurance provider to see if they would cover it AND I could NOT just “walk-in” and get the hair test done; It would have to be through the company I’m getting the drug screens for.
So I did just that. I went ahead and paid 10 dollars for a RETEST of my urine first. They said that if it still comes up positive, then we could discuss other options like the hair follicle testing.
Now, this happened ONCE before w/my urine drug test. Several years back, I was told that my urine came up positive for cocaine. Ive never done cocaine in my life, so naturally I had it retested, and it came back NEGATIVE.
    So here’s my questions:
How can my urine come up positive for cocaine, then get retested and be negative?
How can my urine test come up POSITIVE for opiates when I do NOT TAKE ANY OPIATES WHATSOEVER?
How do I know my urine wasn’t mixed up? How do I know the PROPER protocols have been taken when handling and testing my urine? How can I be sure that those people in the lab are using seperate lab equipment when testing one urine from the next?
Its a GOOD thing that I’m not on Probation because those errors- mistakes would cost me my freedom. Anyway, I was told today from the company I am with that they would go ahead and set up the retest for me. I paid the 10 bucks and now I guess I have to wait. Today is Friday, so now I have to stress all weekend over this or longer until they retest and send the results back. This really sucks and is VERY stressful.
You know, every time I take my monthly RANDOM drug screen, I never have had to worry because I DO NOT TAKE DRUGS. So I guess now I am at the mercy of whoever is going to retest my urine to do it right, to HOPE they havent contaminated my urine with someone else OR what have you.
Right now, I have no other OPTION but to sit, stress, and wait until it is retested and see what labcorp says this time. I know that 2 mistakes on their behalf within a 10 year time period doesnt seem all that bad, but IT IS b/c those errors are telling the company I’m with that Im positive 4 opiates, OPIATES that I have NOT taken, and to me that shows them to be inadequate and NOT standing firm with their “commitment” to abide by the proper standards and protocols they should be taking.
Does anyone know how much a hair follicle test/screening cost @ Labcorp? And how long does the testing take and how soon can I get the results back? I am very serious about this, because a very SERIOUS ERROR has been made on their behalf. If this retest does not come back NEGATIVE (like it should be & should have been in the 1st place) then I am going to take the hair follicle test , which WILL show that I have NOT taken any opiates, and thus, I will show that labcorp was WRONG.
Any information on the testing, how long it will take to get the results, and the PRICE of the testing would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Most LabCorp locations offer Routine Clinical Laboratory Collections, Pediatric testing, Occupational Urine Drug Screens Collections, and H. Pylori Breath Testing. Each LabCorp location will have it’s own list of tests available, and will operate during specific hours. LabCorp didn’t make appointments in the past, but currently allow appointments to be made online through their website for your local lab. I was a little discouraged when I got to the lab early in the morning because there were so many people in front of me and I didn’t have an appointment, and to my surprise the wait was not long at all. They are very organized and once I was called for the actual blood test, it took less than 30 secs and I didn’t even get light headed like I have my whole life with needles. The nurse was very nice and efficient. They are experts and very professional. I am very pleased.
