While this blog deals with LabCorp, there is a recent event with Quest Diagnostics, LabCorps main competitor, that is absolutely disgusting. Quest Diagnostics discriminates against the disabled with service animals. You can read the post on the Disability News blog. I have been going to Quest locations for blood work since having my problems with LabCorp, but when a company discriminates against the disabled it deserves the harshest punishment possible. Now I am reasonable and maybe this is an isolated incident of employees going too far and humiliating a disabled girl in a wheelchair by escorting her out of the facility with her service dog. If that is the case then the company should properly respond by escorting the employees out of the facility forever. The difference between a bad company and a good one is how they handle incidents such as this one. Firing the 2 employees is the only way that Quest will show that it is still a good lab company.
While I have never had a problem with Quest, their service or locations, it seems that they have a policy of absolutely no animals in the patient service centers, even service dogs. At least that’s what the senior employee at the Quest patient center told the wheelchair bound girl while removing her from the center. If Quest does have a policy that allows service dogs, their employees are not aware of it. This clearly discriminates against the disabled that need a service dog to assist them, whether they are blind or in a wheelchair. Service dogs provide very necessary services to those with disabilities. Besides being a companion, they provide those services that allow individuals with disabilities to become a little more independent.
Quest’s actions is a blatant and arrogant violation of the American with Disabilities Act, as well as many state laws. Wal-Mart went through this same issue and this year settled with the United Stated Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, by establishing a new nationwide comprehensive accessibility policy. In addition they paid the government about $250,000. You can see the Department of Justice’s settlement press release by clicking on the above link.
Since this incident happened recently, I think it’s only fair to see how Quest will handle the situation. Are they going to act like LabCorp and find ways to defend their incompetent employees, or are they going to fire the incompetents? Based on what they do, or don’t do, it might be time for a QuestDiagnosticsSucks website. Oh wait, that domain is already registered to Quest itself. Is that a sign that they know that what they are doing is wrong?

okay…now that we are talikng about quest…. i recently went into a labcorp where i waited for about 30 minutes before they called my name. They than told me that they did not take my sons insurance and I needed to go to quest. this confused me being that my doctor was contracted with labcorp, but whatever. I called quest to make sure and to my surprise they were right and they also took appointments so this was already better. When I got there for my appoinment I still waited for over an hour and my son was getting a bit restless. We were finally called in and this lady stuck my four times and said she could not find his vein. My son is 10 years old and sat through the entire thing not moving but crying. She asked him why he was crying and he told her that it hurt. She said, well this would hurt if you drank more water. And also its because your a little fat so that makes it harder. I than told her that she was very rude and i wanted someone alse. So another lady came in and stuck him twice. My son walked out of there with bandages all over the place and no self confidence. This place was dirty and unprofessional.
maybe you should just call this site “all labs suck”… what the f*@# are we supposed to do??? These people have no customer skills at all at any of these places.
ALL LABS SUCK!!!!!!!
OK, I’ve got one for you. I took my son who has Tourette’s Syndrome to LabCorp to have routine labs drawn. The technician hit him. Yes, HIT HIM. She was mad because of the noise he was making even though he was sitting still. She had to stick him twice and he was crying and having some tics. Don Hardison,COO did NOTHING. I even had a personal conversation with him, besides all of the letters I wrote. The tech still works there and I didnt’ even get a letter of apology. Anyone else have their kid hit by an employee?
Dont know why you didnt do the same to he Tech CB????? This is your son. I work for Quest in their main facility. I will be DAMD if a Tech from any lab was to call my son fat or any other negative name. Especialy..ESPECIALY, if they hit my son. WYF id put the surenge in there fkn neck.
hi everyone i work for labcorp and i was an employee from quest diagnostics as well. never let anybody treat you like @@@@ becuse you have the righyt to talk to the supervisor and complian as a patient if you dont received the right costumer service , never let someone insult your kids and be rude with anybody and one more thing please never let them try more than 2 times that the phlebotomist are allow to do. complaint if you have to because that will help to have better costumer services and be more efficient at what we do.
FROM LABCORP SUCKS ADMIN: I complained to the supervisors and they treated me worse than the employees. Management in the Florida division needs to be removed and Labcorp needs to start with a whole new group. The South Florida division is run by incompetent liars. That’s where the company should start the changes.
I did complain to management when my son was HIT. I even sent a letter AND talked with Hardison. Who else can I complain to???
